Missionary Training Center- Week 1

The temple is closed here.

The story of the week is that I arrived at odd timing. New Mandarin learners come every three weeks and I arrived off cycle on my own, the only new mandarin learner to come on July 3rd. I’m with a district that has already been here for 2 and a half weeks. The whole week has been missionaries, teachers, and leaders asking me why I came late. I tell I came when I was told to. It has been a sprint to try and catch up with everyone. I try and learn 80-100 words a day. At least that
was my first day. By the end of day two, I said my first prayer in Mandarin and on day four my companion and I did the first TRC which is a role play teaching. I’ve been having to attend workshops alone because my district has all had them already.

My companion is Elder Thompson and he’s super cool. He is going to LA for his mission also Mandarin speaking and he’s from Wisconsin . He plans on taking chemical engineering at BYU which is my plan too! So pretty cool coincidence! He was in a threesome before I came.

As Dad sometimes says, I feel to shout hallelujah all the day long that I’m here. True, I’m behind and the mysterious timing can be frustrating especially with missing Ryan. But I need not think I'll because I know that this is right.
