Mount Royal- Week 4
I had baptism this week which was simply delightful. I gave a talk on the gift of the Holy Ghost which represented my struggle/challenge of the week that truly stretched me outside of my comfort zone, especially in language ability. I do not really know how it was received, but I can say part way through I saw a member, Brother Huang, stick his phone up. I thought he might've been videotaping and was going to use it as blackmail later, but I was relieved that they were only pictures.
In the Book of Mormon, Nephi and Jacob write a lot of the words of Isaiah in 2 Nephi. I read a footnote and it turns out that there are 432 verses from Isaiah in 2 Nephi and only about 200 of those are exactly the same, so it's interesting to compare the 2 Nephi chapters with the Isaiah chapters. Also, Nephi wrote that the Isaiah chapters can be understood through the spirit of prophecy, so I prayed for the spirit of prophecy this past week and I actually think I understood this one chapter better than I ever had before but my head heart afterward.
I don't wanna jynx myself but so far it's been pretty chill or relaxing being a missionary. Not like I don't work and study with real effort but like there so much relying on God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost that really at the end of the day, my role doesn't have to be stressful or full of pressure. It's not me who is on the line like when I was in high school. I just go and do what I can, giving a honest sincere effort. If things don't work out after I tried everything I know how, sure I'll be sad, but I know I gave all of my meager ability so its not my problem anymore.
Other than that, it's been everything you would expect a missionary to be doing, which is simply wonderful! It is such a delight to be apart of the most important thing happening on the earth today. It is exhilarating!
Hope everyone is well,
Elder Pinkney
