Mount Royal- Week 5

The past week was great. I would be remiss if I did not relate to you the following experience which occurred yesterday:

Elder Tung and I drove an hour and a half away from Montreal into Ontario following up on a referral which had no phone number. We got there at about 7:30 and we said a prayer and approached the door. I was really just hoping that we wouldn't be rejected or that we would find a door to knock or something just because we drove all this way and I didn't want the time to be wasted. Well, we knock the door and then confirm that the person that opens the door is the person we had the referral for. She then promptly says she's not interested and shuts the door and turns off all the lights leaving of in the dark. We started to drive away wondering why we drove all the way. I then said to Elder Tung, " have you ever knocked the same door twice?". When we returned to the house, Elder Tung reminded me that we were representing Jesus Christ and that since it was my suggestion to come back, I would be doing the talking. I knock the door and before she can say anything, I say "Linda, this is a chance for you to have God in your life". She then proceeds to start crying and relating to us how we had come to receive that referral.

There's many lessons found in this story, but the one that sticks out to me the most is this:
My trainer has seen me stumble through Mandarin for the past how many ever weeks and seen me shy away from finding people on the metro, and yet he still trusted me. He could've said that it was unlikely that she would open to us again or that never in his experience had something like this happened so it wasn't worth trying. However, he was humble and open to the influence of the Spirit and trusting me as his companion. My suggestion to return was not persuasive, strong, or confident at all, and yet Elder Tung was trusting that his companion could receive a promoting from the Spirit.
