Riverside/Dows Lake- Week 6

Yeah, I signed up for them (Light the World text), but they are harder to do as a missionary.

I have found my mandarin is beginning to be more understandable which is SO COOL. Something we did this week was wrap up Book of Mormons as Christmas gifts and gave them out to people. It worked really well, they seemed really excited to be getting a free Book of Mormon. We also had a light the world event with the YSA ward, we gave out light the world bracelets and card with a service suggestion on the back. We also had hot chocolate and I played violin in the background, this worked well too and it was great to have members involved.

Elder Wu and I went to this old church we recently came across that has been turned into a community center for Chinese people to do cultural activities like dancing and singing. We previously talked to someone there and they let us put up a poster for English Connect, but this most recent time we went by we met the person in charge of the building and she wants us to come there and teach English instead of having to drive to the church building. It was unclear if she would be charging people money, so we are going to likely not go that route. In any case, we got her number and we are definitely going to find a way to create opportunities to meet mandarin people and let them know about church activities.

Transfers are tomorrow, Elder Wu and I are staying together here in Ottawa.

No, we aren't teaching anyone new. We need to be. Someone we were teaching who came to church 11 weeks straight dropped us, I was like dang, why does it gotta be like that.

The snow is nice here.

I played in the stake 'picture a christmas' thing with a member of the stake presidency. It was alright. It has been good to have the violin for contacting people on the street, park, or train station, it gets people's attention more.

Love you lots,

Elder Pinkney
