Riverside/ Dows Lake- Week 23
This week, Elder H and I, of course, spent in our apartment most of the time. We go to the church once a day to do indexing. I am getting close to 500 names. We have been having video lessons with people and messaging people over Facebook. I have been reading the Chinese Book of Mormon. We made lagnasa, it was really good.
I am going to find out if I am leaving Ottawa or staying really soon.
I worried about finding things to do, being stuck inside and all. Elder Hsu and I stayed plenty busy though. We have been talking to people over Facebook and having video lessons with our friends. Today, we have interviews with President which will be by phone call. We also had district council, also by phone call this past week. All the missionaries from foreign places got sent home this included Elder Langer from Germany. It was sad to see him go. He spent less than one transfer here in Canada.
Strangely, tons of people have been friending me on Facebook. Other missionaries and members from all around the world. A first, I thought it was not an issue but then lots of these people started messaging I guess because they are at home and bored? Just want someone to talk to that they know they can trust because I am a missionary? Or they just want the number of friends to be higher on Facebook? Idk. But all the messages were flooding my phone and it was getting in the way of focusing.
Now, for this story, you have to understand that we aren't supposed to be talking to people in person right now or leaving our apartment except for excercise. But.... on Wednesday this past week, we got a knock on our door and we opened to this young couple that we had helped move in to our apartment building a few weeks prior. They had gone knocking through the whole building asking where we lived. They asked us if we could help them move out. They had found another apartment that was more convenient. So, of course, we went and helped them. They had some really heavy things like this large filing cabinet that they didn't bother to unload everything that was in it. Anyways, they seemed pretty stressed with this move and the friends they had asked to help them had cancelled because of the virus. (Yeah, they just left their friends hanging) anyways, the guy originally said he just needed help with the heavy stuff, so we did that and then my companion was quick (I mean just from my perspective anyhow) to say goodbye to this couple and then go back to our apartment. I suggested that we offer to keep helping this couple but my companion said that wasn't allowed with the rules regarding the virus. So, we then were just sitting in our apartment. A few minutes later though, they knocked again and asked if we could help again because the trailer they were getting close to when they had to return it. We went and kept helping. We were filling up their trailer and there wasn't enough space and they didn't have time to do another trip with the trailer. So, I offered that we follow them to their new apartment and help them unload cause then it would go faster and we could bring some things in our car. After that, my companion was a little quiet. But, we went and helped them unload at their new apartment and then they bought us pizza and asked for our number. The first time we helped them the guy actually mentioned that he was new in the area and looking for a church to attend. But, then everything with the virus happened, so they never had a chance to come.
One of the people we met over Facebook and did a video call with is friends with my cousin and might be in the same class with him.
Took another picture at the sign. We live close to it.
I am going to find out if I am leaving Ottawa or staying really soon.
