This week, we called some members and asked if we come over and show them the First Vision video. When we got there, they started talking about their tenant who lives downstairs who is a Chinese guy here for school. The members shared with us that their tenant had saw a picture of the sacred grove hanging on the wall downstairs and had asked what it was about. The members were so excited to tell this man about Joseph Smith and the First Vision. They then said they would show the video to him later. We started to watch the video. Part way through, the back down opens and the Chinese student walks in arriving home much earlier than usual. The members quickly invite him over and we restart the video. It was a neat experience to say the least, especially considering the timing in how we happened to call that particular couple on that particular day having no knowledge that there was a Chinese student living in the basement and that he had just recently asked about Joseph Smith and that he just happened to come home early that particular night when we were visiting.
Elder Hsu's Chinese is near perfect, so it has been really helpful for me to talk with him. We made a goal to only speak Chinese in the car and it has been pretty good so far.
I ate poutine this week, it was super good.
