Mission Office/Montreal- Week 6

This week was lovely. Elder Brown and I checked out some new apartments in the mission. One was Presidents Low's first area when he was a missionary. This week, we also had orientation for some new missionaries we received, all of whom are Canadian. We told them that when they clean and maintain their apartments they show respect to Heavenly Father for the resources he has given them. I, unfortunately, wore mismatched suit and pants because I thought it would just be a zoom call but we actually met with President Low and the other office missionaries and the APs. I got lucky and no one said anything but I still felt weird.

On Monday, we were having Home Evening Group over zoom with the ward. We were playing a game where you guess the number. For example, one question was "what year did New York open its first subway". We were almost to the end of the call when the Muslim man we are teaching called us. We hung up on the Home Evening call and answered his call. He then started telling us all these things about how he has been praying two ways, the Muslim way and the way we pray. He said he kisses the Quran and the Book of Mormon every night before bed. So, it seemed like he was really on the fence. He also shared how he has always felt attracted to the church and wanted to know more. After Covid, he had planned to move to Texas for better work, but this past week he got two different offers to work in Salt Lake City, so he took it as a sign. He said he is excited to see the temple and just what Salt Lake is like. I thought it was pretty neat.

We were at our Uhaul storage this week when I got call from a landlord. I asked her how her weekend was and she told me that she was 'playing with her family'. I then asked her what musical instruments she plays. She said none... after few more awkward exchanges I learned that she had said praying not playing 😅 I was very caught off guard and didn't know what to say, but she the just said she wanted to check out church after the virus and meet us in person! Pretty cool. She also owns a Chinese restaurant, so I'm excited to eat there.

This picture is when we were in a small town looking at an apartment and it smelled like chocolate because there is a factory there.

Then some pretty tulips.

One night recently I made octopus and no matter what I added it still tasted gross. I took it to the office the next day and had some other missionaries eat it Haha! Everything was going to plan until Sister L came in and tried some. She didn't say anything so, hopefully I'm good.
