Mission Office/Montreal- Week 28
Happy Halloween! Mrs. Kaynor surprised me by sending DIY cupcakes in the mail and all the things you would need for a lockdown Halloween party. I had never made cupcakes on my own before so of course it was fun to try something new. Thank you so much Mrs. Kaynor! See the pictures below.
This week we had a small panic attack in the office when we thought we had been over paying on an apartment for several months, but we got it sorted out. When you got a hundred things to manage, theres always one that slips through the cracks.đ
I have been talking alot recently about the connection between the Bible and the Book of Mormon. It is a common question and a common place for people to get confused. A specific question Elder Baird and I got this week (and that I have seen many times) was how can the Book of Mormon be valid if in Revelation 22:18 it warns about adding "to these things". When it says "to these things", it means the book of Revelation and not the Bible as a whole. Although Revelation is placed last in the bible, it was not the last chronological book of the bible. John who wrote Revelation was called by God to write those things. God designated John to write Revelation and the forbid anyone from "adding" or "taking away" from it. The Book of Mormon talks about this one a prophet named Nephi sees a vision of everything- the start of the world to the end. Nephi sees John in his vision and the angel showing Nephi the vision explains that John is designated to write what he wrote in Revelation.
Here is the passage, 1 Nephi 14: 20-28
20 And the angel said unto me: Behold one of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
21 Behold, he shall see and write the remainder of these things; yea, and also many things which have been.
22 And he shall also write concerning the end of the world.
23 Wherefore, the things which he shall write are just and true; and behold they are written in the book which thou beheld proceeding out of the mouth of the Jew; and at the time they proceeded out of the mouth of the Jew, or, at the time the book proceeded out of the mouth of the Jew, the things which were written were plain and pure, and most precious and easy to the understanding of all men.
24 And behold, the things which this apostle of the Lamb shall write are many things which thou hast seen; and behold, the remainder shalt thou see.
25 But the things which thou shalt see hereafter thou shalt not write; for the Lord God hath ordained the apostle of the Lamb of God that he should write them.
26 And also others who have been, to them hath he shown all things, and they have written them; and they are sealed up to come forth in their purity, according to the truth which is in the Lamb, in the own due time of the Lord, unto the house of Israel.
27 And I, Nephi, heard and bear record, that the name of the apostle of the Lamb was John, according to the word of the angel.
28 And behold, I, Nephi, am forbidden that I should write the remainder of the things which I saw and heard; wherefore the things which I have written sufficeth me; and I have written but a small part of the things which I saw.
Elder Baird and I had more cupcakes than we could eat, so we took some to share with friends. I love this one picture of this kid eating it.
Lots of love,
Elder Pinkney
