This week, Elder Pinkney was transferred out of the Mission Office and was called to be the Zion Leader of the Mount Royal Zone. He had been serving as the Housing Coordinator for almost 30 weeks.
I returned to the area called "Mandarin South" this past week. This is where I first started my mission now over a year ago. I walked in the apartment and just about everything was the same - when I was here before I took the liberty of doing a substanial amount of rearranging things and organizing. I was happy to see that things where for the most part the way I had left them. I looked in the fridge and discovered 11 cartons of eggs - this made learning what Elder Zhou likes to eat pretty easy.
I got an email this week from our missionary digital system that notified me Mohammed (a kind man who moved from Algeria to Montreal who I taught with Elder Brown ) is on date for baptism. I was instantly so excited and overjoyed. Elder Brown has kept meeting with Mohammed since I left.
I feel pretty at ease being out of the office. It feels nice to not be getting called on the phone all the time and better yet my phone doesn't even have sim card now so no one can call me! (Typically missionaries have one SIM card per group of 2 - so Elder Zhou has our Sim card)
Being with Elder Zhou, a native speaker, has made me realize more fully how far I have to go still with learning Mandarin. I have more opportunity and time now to study so I am pretty excited to learn all I can.
