Return to Riverside/Dows Lake- Week 5

This week, Ontario got more restrictions again and so we are back to no in-person church and no crossing the border to Quebec and a several other things. Kinda strange how they keep flipping rules on and off but hopefully it will all just be done soon.

All the golf places got shut down and so Elder Chin is getting more invested in our runs. We helped out at bishop storehouse this week and talked to this former marathon runner for over an hour. We both felt pretty motivated after that. I am happy to be getting back into running.

With the shut down, Chris and Emilie (the boyfriend nonmember and girlfriend member) got temporarily laid off. Since they had they extra time, they welcomed that we have more lessons with them. We ended up have 4 lessons with them this past week which was super awesome. When we taught the word of wisom, Chris then said "well, I guess Emilie and I will just have to get bubble tea then" I was pretty excited to see that he is very sincerely praying and pondering his decision. I know I have been a missionary for quite a while but I still get quite nervous for lessons with people I care about.

We met with the man from Mexico this past week and had our ward mission leader, Dante, come to the lesson because he speaks spainish. As it turns out, they both already know each other having worked at the same place! We also had our spainish speaking elders come to the lesson to do the bulk of the talking. Elder Chin and I got to peacefully sit there as the other three explained the restoration. During the lesson, I noticed the Elders hadn't asked Dante to participate in the lesson. So as soon as one of the elders finished his sentence. I raised my hand and asked Dante what the message of the restoration meant to him.  He answered in spainish so idk what he said, but I was glad he got to say something.

Something we talked about with one of our friends this week was the question the President Oaks talked about in his most recent talk, "What has Jesus Christ done for me?" Our friend shared that something holding him back from being baptized was the fact they lost faith being in their previous baptist church. In a lesson, I felt strongly that in my testimony at the end I should talk about what Jesus Christ has done for me and how I felt about it. You would think we do that every lesson but anyways. At the next lesson, this person brought up that they had been thinking about that question I brought up the last time "what has Jesus Christ done for me" he explained that the attitude behind the question (at least the attitude the woman says it with it President Oaks talk) is what led him to fall out of his baptist faith. He then said that if he were to join the church of Jesus Christ, he would want to be 100% committed and all in. Hearing him say that illustrated again for me just how big of a change it can for people to come on the covenant path. Reminded me of Nicodemus wrestling over whether or not to join Jesus in The Chosen episode.
