Return to Riverside/Dows Lake- Week 4
Today on our call we talked about one 21 year old man named Hiber. Hiber has read about 100 pages of the Book of Mormon and explained to us he wants to be baptized to prepare for Christ's second coming. He is so kind and friendly. He messaged saying he had lived in Ottawa for 2 years having moved from southern Mexico and regretted still not having made any friends. We chatted with him for about half and hour. We are excited to keep talking to him.
I also told you about Nicholas who is very shy and will not call with us but is happy to message lots everyday throughout the day. He watched general conference and raved about it.
Someone I have mentioned before but not today - his name is Chris. He is dating a member of the ward and went to her parents home to watch 4 sessions of general conference. He has also been joining his girlfriend's family scripture study. We invited him to be baptized this past, he said he did not feel ready yet. We asked him to pray faithfully about it.
This week we attended a different church - perhaps just for fun... it was on zoom. We joined this Chinese Christian Church mainly just to practice listening to mandarin. It was also fun at least for a little bit then we got bored so we were poking around and discovered another link to a youth group so we went in and immediately someone dm us in the chat and asked who we were and that they needed to know for security reasons. We halfheartedly panicked and just said we were Kyle and Andrew. The person talking on the zoom then asked "could Kyle and Andrew unmute and introduce themselves" we excitely accepted the surprising invitation and introducing ourselves saying we like McDonalds (Elder Chin) and Star Wars (Also Elder Chin). That then insued a several minute long discussion of everyones personal take on Star Wars and McDonalds. Their spiritual discussion was already over for the day when we had joined so at the end of everyones thoughts on these two very important topics. We abruptly said our thanks for having us and signed off. I look forward to attending sometime later in the future.
I wanted to explain the one picture of me holding the Book of Mormon. When I was 15 I took a similar picture and posted it on Instagram and so someone saw it recently and told me to make a recreation of the picture. I also have the original included. It was a cool little moment to think about the past five years and getting ready to be a missionary and now crazy to think I have 1 month and half left.
